Hire or Purchase an Instrument?

For beginners, we strongly recommend renting an instrument to start with. As students build their skills and progress through the senior primary years, parents and caregivers may wish to invest in a high-quality student model from a trusted brand such as Yamaha or Jupiter.

All instruments are available for student use on a rental agreement. Rental instruments are a cost effective way to get started, a price guide is below.

We strongly discourage purchasing cheap imported instruments from supermarkets or online marketplaces. These are often poorly made — frequently out of tune, difficult to play, and rarely last more than six months before developing faults. Most music stores also decline to repair them. More importantly, the frustration caused by these instruments can discourage students and hinder their progress ultimately leading to dissatisfaction and eventually withdrawal from the program.

Program Costs and More Infomation

The cost of the program is $210 (inc GST, per term) payable on receipt of an invoice at the start of each term. This fee covers all tuition, band, rehearsals and performances.
Instrument hire incurs an additional charge and varies from instrument to instrument. See below for more details.

Note:

The bond covers the cost of enrolling the student into the program. Bonds are refundable given 2 weeks written notice to withdraw before the start of term or cessation date (minus transaction fees) and the return of all rental equipment.
On first enrolment, purchase of a text book is required. Textbooks are $29.
Some instruments are a one-off purchase that can not be rented, for example; drum sticks. These will be supplied on initial enrolment. Broken or lost sticks can be purchased via the online store or will be supplied and billed with the terms invoice.
Students are expected to take care of their rental instrument including keeping it in a clean and tidy state, some instruments require regular cleaning. More information will be provided with the rental agreement.
Some instruments require consumables items such as reeds, cork grease and valve oil. These will be supplied with the initial rental but resupply is the responsibility of the student. Consumables can be purchased via our online store or speak with your tutor.
Payment plans are available. If you wish to organise a payment plan we encourage you to reach out as soon as possible to avoid unenrollment.

Important

Unpaid fees indicate that the parent or care-giver no longer wishes their child to remain in the program. Due to child safety requirements your child will be returned to their school class and will be unable to participate in the program.
